The price of a high standard single room stands at 240 zł (ca. 60 Euro) and double room at 270 zł (ca. 68 Euro). This special price is valid until the end of May. The hotel is situated in the city centre 10 min. by walk from the Museum. When booking the room please write "African Conference". In the case you plan to come by car, please write it also in the hotel registration form. The hotel collects that information in advance to keep for you a parking place. You will find other proposals on website www.pcb.poznan.pl. We suggest that the bookings are made well in advance in view of the summer tourist season.
The conference will open at ca 9.30 am on Monday (2nd July 2007) and close on Thursday evening (5th July 2007) between 19.00 and 20.00. On Tuesday afternoon a parallel meeting of the “International Group for the Ancient Nubian Pottery “ will be held and on Thursday morning a poster session is planned. “The UCLA/RUG Fayum Project” session is also planned, as well as a meeting of the “International Commission of the Later Prehistory of Northeastern Africa”.
As can be estimated from the number of application received, about 60 papers will be presented at the conference. For this reason no parallel sessions are considered, apart from the “ceramic” one, as long as the list does not change considerably. The duration of the presentation is 20 min for one paper. On Wednesday afternoon a trip for all participants will be arranged. We will visit a monumental megalithic graveyard of the Neolithic Funnel Beaker Culture on Kujavia (Central Poland). It will culminate with a bonfire party on the isle of Ostrów Lednicki – the birthplace of the mediaeval Polish state.
The list of persons who have send application forms as well as other information about the Symposium can be found on our website www.lpnea.org.
